pmNERDS' Center of Excellence
The competitive environment Project Managers find themselves in today is a result of market forces we don’t see going away; in fact, the trends are increasing in strength. In 1988, Peter Drucker predicted the rise of the cross-functional ‘information specialist.' Today the demand for information produced in highly specialized disciplines is being satisfied by external consultants. Smaller organizations can’t afford to keep this type of person on the payroll but need the information to be competitive.
Project Managers are under pressure to learn more and more about these specialized disciplines, not only so they’ll know what to do with the information once they get it, but to help fill in the information gap when they can. The less difficult activities of many of these specialists are being adopted by Project Managers to save time and money, but there’s no standardization for these activities and no common language.
The Center of Excellence is an open community supporting the information research, process training, skills mentorship, and performance coaching through the participation of its members. The concept is that wherever you are in the world, regardless of your academic background, professional experience, nationality, gender, race, or religion; you should have access to training, teachers, mentors, role models, and coaches to help you succeed in Project Management.
Whether you’re consuming or producing, you’re welcome at the Center. We are very interested in your success, let us help you, and please join in helping others. Who better than project people to take ideas and turn them into reality? Together we can make the world a better place. To get started:
- Take the Project Planning Essentials course, participate in the Forum, Chat, Glossary and Wiki
- Participate in the Workgroups
- Read materials in the Innovation Spark that you find interesting.
WELCOME TO THE INTEGRATED PROJECT MANAGEMENT CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
The issues are obvious; Project Managers need to leverage cross-functional activities to be more competitive. Information centered organizations rely on project managers to know how to use this information, and perform some of these discipline tasks. As more and more skills, from other disciplines, are being picked up by the project manager, the interrelationships between these skills becomes more and more complex.
For more information about these interrelationships, read the Integrated PM e-Book.
The formula for computing the number of these relationships is n(n-1)/2 where n is the number of skills adopted. In the illustration above that is 16(15)/2=120 inter-relationships, and that is the categories of skills, not each skill. In this world of organized complexity, project managers must look to others to do the research and development required to categorize and map information flows, study correlations, and define effect-cause-effect project behaviors.
Integrated Project Management is an effort too big for one team, company, or industry. Members from around the World, join the Center of Excellence to address these issues as the global Project Management Community. The training, mentoring, and coaching of these is even a bigger task. Join us, pitch in where you can.
pmNERDS' R&D Journal of Integrated PM
The Innovation Spark is responsible for all media within the community. Newsletters, blogs, magazine articles, and professional articles are part of this publishing effort. No one person within the community knows everything. We look to our members to share information where ever they can. Open, unbiased information flowing through the community is our competitive advantage.
The Innovation Spart publishes the information created by others. We are always in search of the next columnist to help drive new consepts, and better explanations or use cases which make information more accessible. Do have ideas which require more R&D effort than you can give? Let the community help. At the same time, we want to provide insight into existing practices that may be new to some of our members. Our mission is to provide:
- Quality Information to our community
- Motivate members to use new approaches to projects
- Give members confidence to be more innovative
- Breakdown concepts so members have autonomy in their use
- Provide selection criteria insight
GrandView is an online marketplace that facilities in the buying, selling, and trading of information assets used in the innovation process. Information assets range from initial concepts, to go-to-market, launch, and distribution plans. At each innovation step, the asset moves closer to liquidity. The closer the asset is to revenue generation the more valuable it becomes.
These assets are developed, registered, and sold in GrandView. When the product materializes, is sold, and cash flows, you’ll be given whatever percentage of the company you own. Your registered information assets are in fact, corporate stock, which can generate real financial dividends.
In our Center of Excellence, we want you to be profitable regardless of the past. Jump in, learn how to build assets, contribute to the market, create virtual companies, sell to a global market, and generate personal revenue. Welcome to your new tomorrow.

This Center of Excellence is committed to developing the practice of Integrated PM. Systems Engineering may be a complicated discipline, but many of its practices and other disciplines are intuitive and can be applied to project management and made accessible even to children. Our members join together to make these practices available to as many people in the world as possible.

GrandView markets products and services in a global market place. Members develop valuable assets, virtual companies, and valuable portfolio offerings. Monetization is achieved when revenue is generated, and your share of assets calculated. Asset value is determined by how close it is to productization, and its perceived value.
Integrated Project Management
Traditional rational thinking is still largely based on reductionist and cause-and-effect modes. These may not be able to cope with complexity, leading to narrowly focused, piece-meal decision making which may result in unplanned outcomes and which from an overall point of view may be ineffective. Integrated PM takes a comprehensive view, focusing on the whole and trying to explain the role or behavior of the projects and tasks in terms of that whole, rather than the other way around.
Leveraging Proven Disciplines
R & D Journal of Integrated PM
The Body of Knowledge used in Management Science and Systems Thinking relevant to Project Management has grown exponentially over the last 15 years, and yet there still isn’t a professional body proposing and proving Integrated PM practices. The R&D Journal, sponsored by pmNERDS addresses this issue, and turns this responsibility over to the public at large.
