The System Engineer of Integrated PM

“If we engage the systems engineer in this program, then the interactions and interdependencies between the subcomponents can be understood and defined prior to integration, but we will need to better integrate work and information flows.”

The term "systems engineer," like the term "program manager", does not yet carry universal meaning. As with program management, unless the term "systems engineering" is formally attached to a professional society definition or articulated in context, the term can be the source of great confusion. This is particularly true in IT, where the term "systems engineer" often refers to the completely different specialty skill of network administration.
